What’s in It for You? The Stevia Leaf Extract Controversy…

Author: Bob Speyer

Breaking Research News… “A sugar replacement called erythritol – used to add bulk or sweeten stevia, monk fruit and keto reduced-sugar products – has been linked to blood clotting, stroke, heart attack and death according to a new study.” (Based on a study published in journal Nature Medicine)

Many companies play peek-a-boo with their ingredient labeling, and as a result, the consumer loses. A perfect example is Stevia Leaf Extract, a natural sweetener from the Stevia Leaf.

Many manufacturers list only the Stevia Leaf Extract in a list of ingredients that go into their products, but what they fail to mention is there are often additives in the Extract to cut the sweetness and make it more palatable – but at a health cost.

One such hidden additive is Erythritol, used to cut the hyper-sweet nature of the Stevia Leaf. The FDA does NOT require manufacturers to list the sub-ingredients, and the consumer loses by being misinformed or misdirected.

Superior Source Vitamins at Walmart

Continental Vitamin Company and our brand Superior Source Vitamins use Stevia Leaf Extract in various supplements, i.e., KETO Collagen, Mushroom Infusion and others. However, we use only a PURE Stevia Leaf Extract without any additives, including Erythritol. Our mission from day one for over 50 years has been to manufacture only pure, clean and simple vitamins and supplements.

So the next time you purchase a product it is consumer-wise to not only “read the label” but to dig a little deeper into any questionable ingredient. The best way is to ask the manufacturer directly.

Shopping for Health is just good common sense.
