READ The Vitamin Labels – Please!

When selecting vitamin supplements, it is important to read the ingredient label because NOT all vitamins are manufactured equal.

Check, Check, Check…

First, check for ingredients like fillers, sweeteners, preservatives and additives. Fillers are often used by manufacturers to cut costs or add substance to tablets and capsules. Some additives increase shelf life, bind ingredients together or improve texture, color or taste. READ The Vitamin Labels, Please!

TIP: It’s best to avoid supplements that contain a long list of additives, such as:

  • cellulose
  • stearic acid
  • gelatin
  • soybean oil
  • maltodextrin
  • potassium sorbate
  • silicon dioxide
  • citric acid
  • titanium dioxide
  • soy lecithin
  • magnesium stearate
  • sorbitol

Note: When reading the Ingredients, know that they are listed by order of quantity, those in the highest amounts are listed first.
